Sorry to hear of coach Lofton’s passing. He was my football coach at North Fulton in 1956, and as manager of the Brookwood Club’s swimming program and pool facility recruited Teddy Keen and me as Lifeguards the summer of 1956. Short story if I may……… Jim and Ruby Jean had a very young son at that time. To save money, Jim purchased a home haircut set to use for his son’s haircuts. He asked if he could practice his first haircut attempt on me (I had hair at that age). Why not? What could possibly go wrong? After all, he had read the instructions…… On returning home that early evening after lifeguard duty, my parents were shocked at the “results” of coach Lofton’s efforts at barbering. And when they forced me to visit a real barber in Buckhead the next day, everyone in the shop burst into laughter as I entered. The barber asked, and I told him what had occurred. As I left, he said…. “Clyde, tell your coach if he promises to not cut hair, we’ll promise not to coach football”……

In preparing young men and women for the triumphs and setbacks of life there was none better than Coach Lofton. His time on earth reflected everything that he believed. Coach loved the Lord. Coach loved his family. Coach loved football. And Coach loved his players. Those who were fortunate to be in his presence should always consider themselves BLESSED! Matthew 25:21 His Lord said to him, "We'll done good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord." "Helping the development of football coaches with a mission to turn boys into men that bring honor and glory to our Lord and Savior by using the collective empowerment of teams, family, and community." Thanks Coach! Mission Accomplished!
